Creative and Critical Thinking Skills

Explore My Work

Creative and Critical Thinking Skills (CCTS) was a fascinating module that taught students about theories of thinking and problem solving and developed our critical and creative thinking abilities, particularly in designing.
This was done by tasking us students to design things in a 'real-world' context; exposing us to existing problems in which we must solve critically and creatively to create a practical design.

Mr. Paul

My lecturer and tutor

Mr. Paul was my lecturer and tutor for this module. He graduated with an architect degree and currently is a full-time artist as well as a lecturer at Taylor's.

Due to his background, Mr. Paul is very experienced and familiar with the design process, with this, he could guide us well in this module and was always there to help when we were awfully lost.

The design process was very alien to us but thanks to him, we managed to understand it and achieved the objectives of this module. We were grateful to have a super friendly, approachable, and fun lecturer like Mr.Paul, he made CCTS fascinating.

Overall Module Refelction

Firstly, this module taught me it's a designer's responsibility to empathize with and research the needs of users, as our goal is to design something that represents them or fulfills their needs.

The design process opened my lenses to assess my works from different critical angles. I now learned how to analyze my works and play around with creative solutions to create a feasible yet fun design.

Most importantly, It's good to learn how I can strategize my thoughts when designing because I came to appreciate the design process in bringing order amidst the chaos of ideas by serving as a solid path for us to organize and break down our thoughts.
